Human Capital Management
Founding Philosophy
To create an organization with engineering as its main business
that would bring together a comprehensive variety of specialists
to deal with any problem in society.
From an engineering perspective—viewing engineering as "science integrated with social responsibility"—
we are willing to engage in any field that contributes to society.
To do so, we need professionals with a wide range of expertise. Just as a hospital requires not only internal medicine and surgery but also orthopedics, otolaryngology, and many other specialties, our organization seeks diversity in knowledge and disciplines.
— Makoto Hattori, Founder
Throughout our 70-year history, we have continued to evolve through trial and error while remaining guided by this founding philosophy.
The words and thoughts of our successive leaders have guided our path.
These principles continue to permeate the organization today and form the foundation of our shared values.
Shared Values: The Power of Words
Values that have been passed down
since our founding
・ Public spirit, virtue, dignity, and "iki" (a Japanese sense of refined elegance) ・ Respect for academic study ・ Network of human connections ・ Grow through friendly competition with colleagues and friends ・ Mentality of “making money is not the only thing in life” Our ultimate goal is, above all, to continue learning. That is why we chose not to become a research institute dependent on government funding, but rather an organization that earns for itself and learns for itself. This is both the challenge and the uniqueness of KOZO KEIKAKU ENGINEERING. We have never aimed simply to become a large company or to maximize profits. We are not driven solely by the pursuit of financial gain. We believe that money should circulate through society. It is my conviction that people of integrity and deep learning will never find themselves lacking in opportunities or resources. — Makoto Hattori, Founder
Respect for the Individual
I want us to respect and value each individual. We should recognize and cultivate the strengths of every person. At the same time, an organization cannot function if individuals exist only independently of one another. Achieving harmony is never easy, but we must remain attentive whenever balance is lost. — Makoto Hattori, Founder KOZO KEIKAKU ENGINEERING has come this far because of the remarkable people who have gathered here. Over the years, we have undertaken countless challenges, both large and small, whether successful or not. These efforts have been supported by the dreams, aspirations, convictions, and dedication of those who came before us, and they will continue to support us in the future. — Hisashi Tomino, Former President
An Organization
That Continues to Challenge and Learn
Rather than following a future imagined by others or waiting for a future to be given to us, I hope that each member will think for themselves about what is truly Wise and continue taking on new challenges. Without challenge, organizations decline and individuals cease to grow. By facing customers with ambition, purpose, and enthusiasm, and by delivering meaningful work, we achieve growth both as individuals and as an organization. — Hisashi Tomino, Former President Change is constant and unavoidable. We must embrace the changes taking place around us and remain an organization that continues to challenge itself and evolve. To do so, continuous learning is essential. — Hisashi Tomino, Former President
Valuing More Than Economic Success
(Truth, Goodness, and Beauty)
The most luxurious thing in the world is to do your best for someone and secretly enjoy watching them be happy. — Makoto Hattori, Founder While technology is our foundation, our purpose extends beyond solving immediate problems. We value outcomes such as resulting in a stable society, bringing peace of mind to people, enriching people’s lives, or ensuring that even one fewer person suffers. — Shota Hattori, Representative Executive Officer
The shared values inherited from our founders and successive leaders continue to shape our organization today.
These values serve as the foundation for the unique management indicators, systems, and workplace environment that support our sustainable growth.
Our Most Significant Management Indicator
KKE Group pursues sustainable growth through two inseparable drivers: business growth and individual talent growth. In addition to profitability, we place equal importance on giving back to the talented professionals who create social value. Accordingly, we define Total Value Added as operating profit plus personnel expenses and fringe benefits, and use its annual growth rate as a shared management target across the Group. We seek to achieve sustainable growth and create long-term value by appropriately allocating the value we create among shareholders, members, other stakeholders, and future business investments. * At KKE Group, we do not view people merely as “human resources.” Instead, we define them as talented professionals whose knowledge, expertise, and creativity support a knowledge-intensive organization.
An Organization That Respects Individuals
Recognizing that people are the source of value creation, our Group defines those who gather here as 'talented professionals.' Providing the platform and environment where these talented professionals can thrive is our top management priority.“Talented professionals” means individuals who genuinely believe that their own growth is inseparable from the growth of the organization, and who approach their work with responsibility, clear thinking, and intellectual rigor. Therefore, we believe that the most vital priority for our Group—beyond simply generating profits—is to be an organization where “talented professionals” gather to deliver value that contributes to society. It is therefore essential that we attract individuals with diverse talents, provide an environment in which they can learn from and inspire one another, and maintain high levels of motivation through fair evaluation of both results and the processes that lead to them.
